DRAGG Certificate Ceremony

FHS Rocket student, Giovanni Ambriz received a certificate for his participation with DRAGG. DRAGG is an innovative after school program in the City of Oxnard where police officers and automotive industry members mentor local high school students to provide an alternative to gangs and graffiti through this positive learning experience. They teach responsibility and respect while working in the automotive industry environment. Congratulations Giovanni!

Oxnard College Application Day!

Oxnard College’s Outreach Team came to Frontier High School and assisted our graduating students to complete and submit their college applications for Fall 2020. College staff provided important information regarding financial assistance and programs of study offered throughout the Ventura Community College District. Over the course of the day, 90 prospective graduates completed the application process! We appreciate OC’s constant support and relationship with FHS. This event could not have been successful without their support. A special thanks to our FHS Counseling Team for providing this opportunity to our community. We are proud of all our students and their commitment to further their education.

It’s College Campus Tour Season

This week was the start of a series of college visits for our Rocket students! This has been an ongoing initiative by our Counseling and Guidance department to provide authentic experiences for our students. The series of college visits include; three trips to UCSB, CSUN, CSUCI, Cal Lutheran and our neighboring community colleges (Oxnard, Ventura and Moorpark). On Wednesday, January 29th, 20 Frontier students and 4 staff members kicked-off the College Field Trip Series. FHS students received a tour of UCSB, learned about different majors and minors that are offered at the university, and got to experience a glimpse of what college life is like. Our students also had the opportunity to dine at the De La Guerra Dining Commons, where they got to sit next to other college students. Student’s also got to see and enjoy the interactive aquarium that featured starfishes, clownfish, crabs and other marine life animals at the The REEF (The Research Experience & Education Facility). It was a very successful field trip and look forward for the rest of our Rockets to experience this opportunity.
