FHS Alum gives back

FHS alumni, Johnathan Bernal shares how Frontier High School has impacted his life and wants to give back to the program that made a difference to him.  Johnathan recalls vividly how the FHS Basketball program truly made him feel a part of belonging to something.  Winning a championship title just made it all the more “sweeter”!  Johnathan is fond of Coach Synegal for being a mentor and supporting him along his journey.  Today, Johnathan is an entrepreneur launching his own clothing line and wants to donate new basketball uniforms and bags to the program that made a difference in his life.

Career Speaker visit FHS

Irene Acosta, a former Oxnard College graduate of the Dental Hygenist program, came to visit FHS in Mr. Martinez’s class. About fifteen students showed up to hear her speak about her experience. She came from Peru with the vision of working at a dentist’s office. She explained to the students that they need to take some science classes and once they apply to the program, students are selected through a lottery program. Once in the program you work with Dentists that show you how to clean teeth, identify cavities and talk to patients. The Program is two years and people who graduate can potentially earn about $50/hr.
